And one that reminds me of a conversation I had not so long ago



These clips were created by a Church who were trying to grapple with the idea of modern Christian thought versus the traditionalist. Having been friends with people who have dropped the word 'Christian' due to the baggage it brings; having struggled with a lot of Christian subculture issues myself; and having had these very conversations!; I think they are a good launch pad for talking about Christianity, and what to do with it.

I'm currently reading a lot about the challenges of 21st Century Christianity, and how to bring it back to something more 'organic', so watch out for more clips and musings on Contemporary Christianity and the Organic Church.

Reunion Rocks Out!

So this is me, ooo, maybe 30 minutes before our evening started.

The picture may give the appearance of calm, and I will leave that impression with you. Inside was quite a lot different!

But, the night was perfect. 50 people all up (alumni and partners), great food, great drinks, wonderful view and everything went flawlessly.

It was so much fun, so great seeing everyone again and hearing what they're all up to. We had ministers, youth leaders, teachers, IT professionals, someone in the Navy (Village People, anyone?), music teachers, nurses, solicitors - just to name a few. And there were some extra 'ring-ins' courtesy of some beautiful baby bellies!

I have had lots of praise for the evening - but I really put it down to everyone else. There were nerves and hesitation at first, but they soon dissolved as we talked to each other and caught up on the last 10 years.

Quick catchup

So again I've been caught out with something much worse than my pants down - nothing new on my blog. Being that my cognition seems to be permanently kept under a dementor-style fog recently, this will be a very simple update as to what I've done lately.

1) I've managed to develop a head cold (I think this has something to do with the aforementioned fog). Not blaming my husband at all, but Brad had bronchitis last week, and so with both of us coughing and spluttering, we aren't the happiest of campers.

2) I did my first 10 hour shift last week. I thought that was bad enough - but then I ended up at work for 13 hours, courtesy of a particularly messy gynae-oncology case. As fascinating as it was, and as much as I enjoyed it - watching the clock slowly meander along, knowing you were no closer to going home, is not much fun. It was a relief when he left the liver and lungs alone, took one more look at the bowel and said 'no, I think we've done more than enough'. I personally thought we'd done MORE than enough at 6pm - but I'm not about to argue with the best of the best gynaecologists in Queensland (and the lady did need the further procedures at the end of the day)!

3) My email has been hacked - so PLEASE do not send me email until I tell you otherwise. Everything is currently in Chinese, and I can't access it at all, but I'm in the process of working it out. It just seems to be taking longer than Magellan's travel around the globe.

4) I have the school reunion tonight. I'm coordinating, MCing and hosting the event all by myself. I am SO excited about it - however, I will be very glad once it's all over and I don't have a million thoughts running through my head. The School has been excellent though, and definitely made things very easy. The weather is nice, so it means it can be the beautiful gourmet bbq outdoor event I was hoping it to be.

5) Yes, we are trying for a baby. And it's TERRIFYING, EXCITING and BORING all at the same time! LOL. Like countless other friends, I've come to understand the way time stops during two week waits; the joys of CM/CP/BBT/OPKs; and the frustration of not knowing either way (but being careful with food/drinks/what surgery I assist in/all the same!). Any prayers you feel led to send our way for our pregnancy/baby endeavours would be awesome.

So yeah, that's pretty much my life right now. I should be back tomorrow with photos of tonight's reunion.

Could someone find my brain and return it?

I don't know what's going on - but I seem to have misplaced my brain. Either that or the cognitive spaces have been filled with something akin to white-out!

Case in point:

* Last week at soccer, mum asked me the name of about 3 different things - and do you think I could remember them? NO!

* Brad's been sick with bronchitis, so I told him I'd go out and buy some soup (along with anything else he wanted). I went shopping and brought everything else home BUT the soup!!!

* I ran out of butter later in the week, so again told Brad I was going shopping to pick it up - did he want anything? Again - got EVERYTHING but the darn butter!

* Sat here assuming Adam Hills was asked to host the Paralympics because of all the hard work he does for those with disabilities. Now this guy is my FAVOURITE comedian, and I know a fair bit about him. Somehow I'd forgotten that he himself is without a foot - and only realised it after telling Brad 'he must be hosting because of how much work he does for the disability societies'...

YEEEESH!!! I am getting more and more frustrated with myself - that above was only a small smattering of my forgetfulness and mistakes (ie. having to go to the bench THREE times to pick up the teatowel because I'd forget everytime I got there!). SO OVER IT!
